Andrew Georgiou, Risk Manager at Metromix, was part of the change management of Rapid Induct into Metromix from face to face inductions. "Contractor Inductions were presented face to face, forms would be printed off for the inductees to complete that request their personal details, next of kin and trade licensing details. A Power point presentation would then be read with the Site Supervisor. Sometimes the questions and answers would be given to contractors to complete as an assessment, however this was not done consistently with all inductions, therefore poised a risk to our business that inductees were not assessed on their learning. The inductions would also take anywhere between 30-60 mins", says Andrew.

Since the change to using Rapid Induct, Andrew has had peace of mind that contractors and employees are now following correct safety procedures. "The quality of the induction has improved as the content is up to date and one consistent message is presented to all inductees. It has also reduced Site Supervisors' time as previously Site Supervisors would conduct the training in addition to conducting a site induction/walk around. There were several instances whereby Site Supervisors would be wasting time waiting to conduct inductions that were cancelled. Now that the inductions are completed before contractors arrive on site, all they do is present their certificate to validate they have completed the induction and a site induction is done. Another benefit of using Rapid Induct is that our employees and contractors are now more aware of our safety culture across the four parts of our business, including administration, quarries, transport and our concrete division", says Andrew.
